Brown Butter Gnocchi with Sage

If you love butter, potato and flour you will absolutely  love gnocchi. Even though the recipe is simple, the process is a little tedious, which causes a loss of appeal in the dish.

I am trying to bring it back and appreciate how we can serve these lil golden nuggets of goodness more on an everyday basis. The key is to prep them in advance, freeze them and they can be prepared in a fraction of the time!

INGREDIENTS

Gnocchi's pillows Unsalted butter Fresh sage leaves Lemon zest Salt and pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add salt to taste like the sea. When water is boiling, add gnocchi.

Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet add unsalted butter at medium heat and stir around until all melted.

Add chopped sage leaves. Continuing to stir until the butter and sage leaves are brown.

By the same time in the boiled gnocchi pot, the gnocchi should be floating on top of the water which signals the it is cooked.

Take a slotted spoon and take the gnocchi out the pot and place it in the hot brown butter. Remove from the heat and add lemon zest, salt and pepper.
